5-Jun 2026 | Adding some fun into your workouts
Version 2.2.5
This update is all about keeping you focused and on track, whether you’re counting down the seconds between sets or looking for that extra push during a grueling workout.
Audio support is the primary focus this time around, bringing you rock-solid rest timer notifications that break through the noise and a brand new "Split Personality" feature designed to keep things fresh while you lift. Let’s dive in.
Rest NotificationsWe’ve all been there: you’re deep into your rest period, lost in a great playlist or a quick scroll through your feed, and before you know it, you’ve been sitting on the bench for five minutes. To help you keep your momentum, we’ve given our rest timer notifications a major upgrade on iOS.
Our rest alerts are now officially Time Sensitive. This is a fancy way of saying that when your rest is up, your phone will make sure you know about it. These notifications will now break through Focus modes, silent switches, and loud music to deliver a gentle nudge right when you need to get back to work.
Because this is a system specific setting, existing users will need to toggle it on manually to start feeling the benefits. Just head over to your iOS Settings > Notifications, find our app, and make sure "Time Sensitive Notifications" is switched on.
Whether you're training in a noisy gym or keeping your phone on Do Not Disturb to stay in the zone, your rest timer will now always have your back. Let’s keep those gains moving!
Split PersonalityFor a long time, Strongsplit has been your silent partner in the gym, a stone-cold, utilitarian tracker that focused on the data and nothing else. It did its job well, but it lacked a little soul. Today, that silence is going to break in the most chaotic way possible.
Introducing the Split Personality, one of the most ambitious (and slightly unhinged) update yet. It lives in your workout, and sees everything, so it can judge you more than anyone will.
There's over 500 custom voice lines to keep the experience fresh, spanning from genuine encouragement to some truly biting, unhinged commentary. It’s the perfect antidote to those sluggish Monday morning sessions where you need a literal wake-up call.
We know that "tough love" isn't for everyone every day. If the AI gets a little too personal or the mockery starts hitting too close to home, you can easily swap personalities or tone things down in the settings. You’re in control of the chaos.
Beyond the laughs and the burns, this is a massive leap for Strongsplit. This new audio dynamic will be the foundation for some incredible features coming in the future. Soon, your AI partner will be able to give you real-time heart rate warnings if you’re pushing too hard, celebrate your PR alerts the second they happen, and provide tactical training cues right in your ear. We’re moving beyond the screen to make your workout more immersive than ever before.
✈️ Up nextWith the new split personality bringing in the text to speech (TTS) audio support, more training related audio cues will be added in the next few updates. In addition, iOS widgets & data import/export are also high priority items for the next few updates.

15-Apr 2026 | Major App Overhaul, Set Suggestions & Auto Progression 💪
Version 2.2.1
This is the first half of the major overhaul of the app, to bring you a much more seamless experience to manage & review your workouts.
In this update, it's also about getting you smarter guidance on when to push harder, deeper insights into your performance, and a redesigned workout experience that gets out of the way so you can focus on hitting your sets.
This also marks the first step into the roadmap to make your training even more intelligent. Here is a quick look at the major new changes:
-
Smart set suggestions: Get intelligent weight and rep targets for every set—not just your top set. The app knows your 1RM and flags when you're ready to lift heavier.
-
Customisable progression plans: Stop guessing on progressive overload. Set your rep range and weight increments; the app tracks your progress and tells you when to advance.
-
Workout screen improvements: Streamlined, distraction-free interface. Inline actions, performance metrics at a glance, less friction between you and your sets.
-
Better analytics & tracking: Deeper insights into your training. Customize how you analyze lifts, track recovery by muscle group, and see your performance breakdown per exercise.
-
Revamped screens: The exercise, routine and session screens have all gone through a major overhaul, with more concise insights and optimised controls.
Smarter weight & rep recommendations for every set. The revamped suggestion system calculates your target weight and reps based on your estimated 1RM and workout history, so you always know exactly what you should be lifting.
How it works:
-
For working sets, the target weight is based on your estimated 1RM and the number of reps configured. Switch to editing reps? It'll suggest how many you should hit at your chosen weight.
-
Tap the suggestion button in your set editor use the suggestion. Green means you're on track; red means you're below target.
-
Suggestions will also be scaled down automatically for feeder sets, to work up safely to your top working set
Plateau buster: Lifting the same weight as last session? The app flags it and suggests a modest increase to keep driving progress.
Warm-up sets: Configure them as a percentage of your first working set, or use your top set as the benchmark, everything is fully customisable.
You decide whether to accept the suggestions, the app simply does the calculations for you and will never force a decision on you.
2. Customisable Progression PlansFeeling stuck with your training? Structure your training progression with a simple but robust double progression system: increase the reps within your range, then increase the weight. Build a plan based on quantitative measures using your past lifts, not guesswork.
Here's how to set it up:
1. Enabling the progression: Switch your suggestions from 1RM maximisation to following your custom progression plan. One toggle, and your suggestions align with your goals.
2. Building your plan: Configure your desired rep range, how many sets per session before bumping reps, and your ideal weight increment.
Not sure on what to set? The initial configuration will be based on your historical sets, so all you really need to worry about is if the weight increment is too fast for you.
The progression configuration is easily accessible via the exercise screen.
3. Sticking to the plan: The app flags when you're off track and prompts you to make some adjustments. You can easily update your sets to the progression target via the set suggestions.
What's new-
Recovery tracking: Muscle breakdown now indicates the # days your muscles had to rest since your last workout
-
Offline support: Start & complete your workouts even without an internet connection, defer saving it till when you are connected
-
Faster loading: Optimised activity sync & data downloading to improve the app loading speeds
-
Exercise charts: Support for custom dimensions beyond just the default weight × reps
-
1RM breakdown: Simplified exercise performance showing the appropriate weight for each rep based on your current performance
-
Map support: View your route on a map for runs and hikes, and even save the locations for your workouts and routines.
-
Expanded activity support: Better integration with Apple Health for different activity types (hiking, running, etc.), with additional metrics like elevation, pace, and splits for cardio.
-
Improved light theme with better readability
-
Revamped exercise & routine screens
-
Revamped numpad input format with a larger number display, set completion & edit set modifiers support
-
Consolidated exercise note module that displays all exercise notes across different routines and sessions in one place
-
Inline actions for exercises during a workout instead of being in a separate modal for faster configurations
-
Improved set layout with more emphasis on primary dimensions and better spacing for labels (e.g. modifiers & previous sets)
-
Workout view now supports individual exercise performance metrics, muscle tags & inline rendering of modifiers, so you get a much better overview of your session
-
New workout completion screen with more concise metrics & faster redirects back to the main screen
-
Reworked inputs for superset & drop set modifiers

16-Mar 2026 | A few more quick fixes
Version 2.2.0
Some quick fixes for the following
-
App crashes when attempting to edit exercise dimensions for users under the free plan
-
Duplicate entries for sessions in the activities tab
10-Mar 2026 | Quick fixes
Version 2.1.9
Some quick fixes for the following
-
Missing workouts in activities tab when not paired with an Apple Watch
-
Missing guide tab for default exercises
6-Mar 2026 | Performance & 1RM improvements
Version 2.1.8
Keeping your progress on track and your watch in sync. 🏃♂️This update is focused on giving you more control over how your 1RM is tracked and used across the app, along with a set of reliability improvements for Apple Watch, faster load times, and a handful of bug fixes that have been on the radar for a while.
Here’s what’s waiting for you in this version:
-
Your 1RM, your way: Improved controls on 1RM benchmarks used for performance metrics and much more consistent usage across the app
-
Smarter "per side" tracking: Auto-scaling for historical sets so your 1RM won't accidentally drop just because you changed how you log your weights.
-
A more reliable Apple Watch: New crash recovery and better data validations, so if something goes wrong mid-workout, your data is safe, and your exercises won't go missing.
-
Speedy performance: We cut down loading times and optimized the workout screen. The app now responds as fast as you do, so you can spend less time staring at your phone and more time lifting.
Your 1RM config now gives you full control over how your performance metrics are measured and displayed, with better context, consistency, and flexibility throughout the app.
Choose which 1RM benchmark is used for performance metrics, be it a manual entry or auto estimated, so your data reflects how you actually train. You can also view the historical best set behind your last 3-month 1RM estimate for full transparency on how that number is calculated
Some other improvements includes the following:
-
Remove manual entries & adjust your formula: You can now delete manual or ad-hoc 1RM entries per exercise, and easily customize the exact formula used for estimation.
-
Syncing across the app: Your last selected 1RM config now syncs everywhere and is used consistently for both set suggestions and performance metrics.
-
More accurate historical charts: Exercise charts & 1RM metrics for historical sessions are now retrospective to the session's start time, giving you a better snapshot of your strength.
-
Instant settings updates: Changes made to 1RM settings during the set suggestion flow are saved immediately, rather than waiting for you to accept the suggestion.
When switching between recording the total weight vs the weight per side, historical sets will now be automatically scaled, keeping exercise charts and 1RM metrics in sync with however you're currently logging.
So if you're switching to recording your weights to be per side instead of the sum it won't seem like your performance had suddenly reduced by 50%. If you don't want to implement the auto scaling, you can simply toggle it off when configuring the estimated 1RM per exercise.
3. Apple Watch ImprovementsI know how frustrating it is to be crushing a workout only for a tech glitch to get in the way. With the revamped Apple Watch app released in the last update, some users were already reporting issues like app crashes or missing exercises.
This update has improved the reliability of the Apple Watch app to give you total peace of mind, so you can focus on your sweat, not your screen.
-
Crash-proof sessions: If the app closes unexpectedly mid-workout, don’t panic. You can now jump right back in and recover your session exactly where you left off.
-
Rock-solid syncing: We’ve improved the way your phone and Watch talk to each other, making sure your hard-earned data actually gets where it’s going every single time.
-
Faster fixes: We’ve added smarter behind-the-scenes tools to help us spot and squash connection hiccups before they get in your way.
Historical sessions load in the background: The app now feels faster right from the start, fetching your history while you're getting ready to lift.
Smoother workouts: Workout performance has been optimized to reduce the reliance on caching data, keeping things snappy from your first set to your last.
Instant timers: Fixed the 1–2 second delay when starting a new timer. Now, when you hit start, the clock moves as fast as you do.
5. Bug Fixes-
Fixed an issue where muscle distribution breakdown showed "Not set" even when all exercises had a muscle group assigned
-
Fixed an issue where Apple Watch may crash when dismissing a completed timer on older models
-
Fixed an issue where Apple Watch could override changes made on the phone at the end of a timer
-
Fixed an issue where exercise dimensions for sets in historical sessions didn't update immediately after editing via the exercise details tab
-
Fixed an issue where distance in the activity tab could include sets that previously had a distance dimension but was later removed
-
Fixed an issue where creating an exercise without filters would incorrectly save an empty object for the muscles
The next few updates will be focused on a complete redesign of the app.

19-Feb 2026 | Revamped Apple Watch App
Version 2.1.7
⌚ Take Control of Your Workout from Your WristUp till now, the Apple Watch app was great for checking your heart rate, calories burned and to quickly refer to your workout on the go. But it mostly played a passive, supporting role.
With this update, your Apple Watch can now become an active control center for your workout. Here’s what you can do with the new, fully revamped experience:
-
Rest timers: Start, edit, or cancel rest timers right on your wrist. They sync perfectly across your devices, so you’re always on track.
-
Manage your sets: Complete or make quick adjustments to your sets without breaking your training flow.
-
Exercise adjustments: Need to pivot? Easily add or remove exercises using our filters that are optimised for the small screen to quickly find the exercise you need
-
Total control: Handle set modifiers with automated actions, or cancel a workout on the fly if life gets in the way.
-
Sync on demand: Use the new manual sync trigger whenever you need an extra peace-of-mind update.
Best of all? We believe everyone should have a seamless training experience. Apple Watch sync is now completely free for every user.
✈️ Up nextThe upcoming update will be a relatively small one, centering on performance boosts during active workouts and refining 1RM (One Rep Max) calculations for exercises using the "per side" weight toggle. While this might seem like a smaller "under the hood" patch, it actually marks a massive milestone: the core foundation of the app is officially complete.
For the past few months, the focus was to ensure you have total control over your data and workout logging. Now that the foundation is rock-solid, we are ready to move into a whole new era of training.
Up until now, we’ve focused on being the best tool for you to track your progress manually. Next, we’re teaching the app to help you grow. We are shifting our focus toward intelligent features that take the guesswork out of your gym sessions, some examples include but are not limited to the following:
-
Progression Programming: Dynamic targets that tell you exactly when it's time to add more weight or reps.
-
Routine Generation: Smart tools to help you build effective workouts tailored to your goals in seconds.
But before we start focusing on these "smarter" features, there will be a major design overhaul of the app, so that the interface can be as powerful as the features inside it. This redesign isn't just about aesthetics; it’s about making sure the app stays intuitive and clutter-free as we add more advanced capabilities.

1-Feb 2026 | 💪 Revamped muscles & iso-lateral logging
Version 2.1.6
In this update, these muscle tagging system has been rebuilt from the ground up to give you more control over your data and a clearer picture of your progress. Iso-lateral logging has also been improved with updates to the existing exercise dimensions.
Here is a look at what’s new:
-
A smarter, flexible muscle system: You can now assign multiple muscles to a single exercise, distinguish between primary and secondary targets, and even create your own custom muscle groups. This means your workout analytics are now more accurate, and more utility with smarter exercise replacements by similar muscles targets.
-
"Per Side" logging: No more doing mental math mid-set. You can now log weight and reps for each side independently. This makes tracking things like single-arm rows or lunges more intuitive and ensures your total training volume is tracked accurately.
Previously, you were limited to picking just one primary muscle per exercise. This worked fine for bicep curls, but it didn't tell the whole story for compound movements like deadlifts or bench presses where multiple muscles are working hard at once.
The New Way:
You can now assign multiple primary and secondary muscles to any exercise. This ensures your volume tracking are actually accurate. Plus, if our default list isn't enough, you can now create your own custom muscle groups to track exactly what matters to you.
With this revamped system, some new features have been added to make full use this, to give you more insights and utility during your workout.
📊 Real-time Muscle Analytics:
Ever finish a workout and wonder if you're doing enough? We’ve made it easier to adjust your training on the fly with our new intra-workout muscle breakdown.
You can now see exactly how your session is stacking up while you’re still in the gym. No more guessing, just better gains.
-
Hit your weekly targets: Stay on track with your set counts for every muscle group as you train.
-
Total muscle coverage: We’ve broken things down into sub-groups. For example, if you’re hitting chest, we’ll show you if you’ve balanced your work between the upper, middle & lower pecs.
-
Pivot on the fly: If you notice you’re lagging on a specific area, you can add an extra set or swap an exercise before you head to the showers.
💨 Better & Faster Ways to Find Exercise Replacements
When you decide to replace an exercise, we’ll now automatically apply the right filters for you. Instead of scrolling through a massive list, you’ll immediately see similar movements based on the target muscle group & sub-muscle (if configured). It’s all about saving you time so you can get back to your sets.
Pair this by sorting your exercises based on the last used time, and you'll get much better recommendations for alternative exercises that you often use.
2. Per side loggingWe’ve all been there: you’re mid-workout, staring at a pair of 25lb dumbbells, trying to remember if you’re supposed to log the total weight or just one side. Unless you’re looking for a brain workout along with your biceps, doing "gym math" between sets is the last thing you want to do.
That’s why we’ve introduced Per-Side Logging. Now, you can log exactly what you’re holding or loading onto one side of the bar, and we'll handle the heavy lifting for your volume calculations.
How it makes your workout smoother:
-
Log what you see: If you grab a 30lb dumbbell, just type "30." No more doubling numbers in your head to get your total volume right.
-
Perfect for Iso-Lateral movements: Whether it’s single-arm rows or split squats, your data will now be as accurate as your form.
-
Quick Toggles: You can turn this on or off instantly via the new Set Header. Just tap the header to switch to per-side logging or adjust your exercise dimensions on the fly.
We believe your energy should be spent on your PB, not your arithmetic. Give it a spin during your next lifting session!
Other Fixes & Improvements Improvements-
Removed limits on routines in the explore section, plus unrestricted recovery, nutrition, and muscle metrics
-
Smart prompt to update a routine after a workout when changes are detected
-
When saving a workout as a new routine, the last session now correctly links to the newly created routine

-
Rest timers
-
Updating set status and values
-
Updating exercise selection
